Up & Running

4:30AM CEST – Everything seems to be working perfectly, you will have to update your TeamSpeak client to talk on this server if you have not already.

Comment here or email me if anything seems to be amiss. :)

Uprade & Downtime

The server is getting an upgrade but will be unavailable to users beginning at ~ 2:30AM CEST and is expected to be down for around 2 hours.

I also know TeamSpeak needs to be updated, if anyone notices this before I do in the future please write in the comments of this front page and I will be notified sooner.

TeamSpeak

As I mentioned in a previous post we will be introducing some new services to this community, the first of which is a public TeamSpeak server.

Anyone is allowed to join, talk, and/or idle on the TeamSpeak server, however it is currently capped at 32 people and will most likely stay at that number. If we end up getting close to that number on a frequent basis we will have to disallow people idling (I don’t see this happening anytime soon).

So without further ado:

Client: Teamspeak3 (Available Here.)
Server: Nexus-IRC.org
Port: 9987
Server Password: No Password

Once connected you may create your own channel (password protected if you wish) or join any public channels, the “Lobby” is a public channel provided by Nexus-IRC.org.

The Name Change

I have not yet mentioned what changing our name means to this network. As some of you may know we are the same network that used to go by the name of “NexusIRC.org.” Now there is simply a dash in between the words Nexus and IRC (“Nexus-IRC.org”). This change, while not expected, will most certainly allow us more freedom to bring you the best IRC experience possible.

Not only is the new name much more stable, the DNS running from five separate data centers in geographically diverse locations (for redundancy), but we can now create sub addresses on-the-fly. An example of this would be: “stats.nexus-irc.org.”

This will allow our network to grow at any time or rate and makes it easier to keep a stable service running 24/7. We may also be introducing some new services for our users (more on that later).

This website also uses a new layout since the “NexusIRC.org” days and is, in my opinion, a much cleaner one. As always your feedback is welcome; please feel free to contact us any way you prefer, or write a message in the comments!

We hope to see you online.

- Will :)

Unexpected Downtime

First off I would like to apologize for the unscheduled downtime from 7:30 am – 10:00 am CEST on Sunday, May 5th. During a routine update I noticed a certain security issue and addressed it immediately (it did however require multiple reboots, hence the downtime). We also took that time to update various things. For one this website should load very much faster than before.

We have been working very hard on security, backups, and updates lately and feel that our server is now the most stable, secure, and fast it has ever been.
